Special needs kyu grading guide

The subjects of Judo literature is mostly based on competition techniques, backgrounds with attention for other aspects of the art of judo are little illuminated.

Concerning the skill requirements, which are linked with coloured belts is not always uniform.

In the Netherlands is every judo teacher free to decide how to exam his judokas till brown belt.

Some judo teachers are judging their judokas on judo skills and techniques wile others prefer results in competition.

There are guiding lines given by the NVJJL (Dutch teachers association) and in the training for judo teacher there is a module  “examination Kyu grades” but still the only uniformity lays in the examination for black belt (1st DAN)

For special needs judokas there are no guiding lines at all.

We tried to set up directives and skill requirements for special needs judokas what can support and serve for a Kyu grade examination

Sidelines

The Dutch teachers guiding-lines for Kyu grades are availeble in coloured cards which correspond to the coloured belts
